Experience Summary
I am an educator of over 15 years. My area of expertise is English/Language Arts and my primary audience over much of my teaching career has been average to advanced students in grades 7-12. I have, however, successfully taught elementary school students and members of the "at-risk" population. In addition to being a classroom teacher, I have served as a Lead teacher, Acting Principal, teacher mentor, resource teacher, workshop facilitator and more. As an added, I am a fiction novelist who has penned five books. I am also the owner and operator of an independently run publishing company.
Teaching Style
I am a teacher who believes that children are only limited by their mindset. If it is truly a child's desire to learn, he will. Children choose to fail. My job as an educator is to make it difficult for a child to choose to fail. My lessons are typically innovative and evoke intrinsic motivation. I used a variety of tools for teaching and provide students with "along the way" incentives as a means of challenging them and rewarding them for achieving personal goals. My rapport with my students is excellent and because they usually appreciate and trust me, they perform well for me and eventually for themselves. I am a dedicated educator who is passionate about student success.
