Experience Summary
Having obtained a Communications degree from college, I was quite driven to help students who faced challenges in the areas of reading/writing. Further, I had extensive experience in Title I and Reading Labs, even on the college campus where I studied. Later, I earned my Master's degree and did research to assist me in understanding the pervasive issue of a higher incidence of language difficulties faced by these students versus that realized in Math. During the past years, I have taught high school and college English courses to students who have been identified as needing assistance in Reading and writing. I have also assisted students with other subjects, such as Algebra I, II, Problems of Democracy, high school science, etc.
Teaching Style
I enjoy teaching and working with a variety of students. I do hold firmly that all young people can learn, just via different modalities. I thrill when students finally master a concept that they have been striving to grasp. While I try to discover the student's strongest method of learning, I also work to assist them in gaining skills in areas where they are less proficient. Given the correct circumstances and environment, young people can thrive! This is my joy as an educator!
