Experience Summary
When I was a kid I used to ask questions about things. My questions were usually of the natural sciences bent. I was eight.
As an adult, knowing I was going to have a daughter, I discovered that I needed to be respected in the world for my knowledge so I could have a career that could support my daughter. I became a great student. After a while I found that it wasn’t just chemistry that I loved. It was TEACHING chemistry that I loved. It was sharing the knowledge and sharing the discovery.
I spent fifteen years going to community college and Eastern Washington University. I earned my Associates in chemistry and my BAE in chemistry. I have tutored in chemistry, math and Turkish language.
Teaching Style
Children and adults learn in different ways. Visual, auditory, kinesthetic are three ways that people can learn, I happen to be mostly kinesthetic. I alter how I teach depending on what my students need and what the resources are. I do use a constructivist teaching style to do this. I do believe that a student rises to the expectations of the instructor. I also believe that the responsibility of learning should be increasingly the students as they take over their own education away from the instructor. While the instructor is giving over the job of education to the student they should still contribute to broadening the students knowledge horizons by offering challenges.
