Experience Summary
After graduating from Baldwin-Wallace College, I chose to teach English abroad in Spain for a full academic year. The summer before I left for Spain, I took an online TEFL Certification course from the TEFL Institute, which helped guide my successes in Spain. I taught as an Assistant English Professor in an adult English school in San Roque while also offering tutoring sessions on the side. I returned to the US in June after having an incredible experience in Spain. I made lifelong friends and connections during my time there with my students and the parents of the children I tutored.
Teaching Style
I enjoy working with students and helping them learn. I feel that the key to success in teaching a foreign language is helping students understand how to think in a fundamentally different way, since Spanish utilizes different grammatical structures. This can be achieved by determining what kind of learner the student is. I found that creating exercises for students to tackle in a hands-on manner is best for experiential learning.
