Experience Summary
Maintaining a good GPA was something extremely important to me during my academic years both in high school and in college. This is why I believe that everyone should have the opportunity and access to improve a certain academic area through the help of competent tutors like myself. Having earned a Bachelor Degree in Social Science with a primary field in Sociology and two secondary fields in Psychology and Ethnic Studies with University Honors, have enabled me to gain a better understanding of the society we live in today. In addition, I have been an AVID tutor in high school, which is a program whose main goal is to prepare students for college. I have tutored high school students in Social Studies, Math, Chemistry, English and Spanish.
Teaching Style
The world would be a boring place if all of its people were the same. I believe each individual is socially, academically, emotionally, cognitively, and creatively developed differently from others. Some children perform better in social relationships than at written language and this is where people like me come handy to improve and help develop some of these academic domains. I believe people learn through direct experience and that an educator should focus on an individual’s needs, so a constructivist approach is my teaching style. I am patient, a good listener, who embraces diversity and is attentive.
