Experience Summary
I began as a volunteer homework aide 2004-2005 school year, asisting students who are ELL. It was during this time, that I decided that I wanted to become a teacher. I worked as a Teacher's aide from March-June 2006 at Granger Elementary with the Resource teacher, teaching small groups of students in Math, Reading & Spelling. I began working at Gearld Wright Elementary November 2006, with the Reading Specialist, working with small groups of Kindergarteners and First graders, working on their phonics, and reading fluency. While there, I did my student teaching in First and Second grades. Then, I obtained a job at the same school, teaching Third grade starting the Fall of 2007-June 2009.
Teaching Style
I love to work with children. Each child is capable of learning, so the important thing is to work to recognize the way a child learns best, and have tools to help in that way. I am compassionate, and understand the struggles that kids can go through in school, and how that can affect learning. I believe in giving children the chance to find out what they like, by showing them how much fun learning is, and what opportunities can be opened for each of them. I believe students learn both on their own, and from others, and as long as they're given a positive environment, their potential is endless. I know how important a good education is, and how fun learning can be. I look forward to the opportunity of sharing my love of learning with others.
