Experience Summary
As an editor, writer and avid reader for my entire life, I have reading comprehension and editing skills that would be valuable in helping others. I have 15 years of experience as a journalist, editor, freelance writer and higher education development writer.
In my postion with Hearst Business Media, I spent a little over a year working with Hofstra University interns in our Long Island, New York office, mentoring them in reporting, editiing and writing.
I am also a parent who has long been active in the education system as an advocate for my children.
Teaching Style
My approach to teaching others is a holistic one. I believe each students learns at his or her own pace, based on individual interest levels.
As the parent of Montessori students for many years, I believe each student must be motivated and given opportunities to develop his or her interests from direction provided by a mentor or instructor, then be given the freedom to advance the knowledge base. I think it is a teacher's job to help each student achieve their potential by providing a positive learning experience which also involves the parent.
