Experience Summary
My experience with teaching began in 2004 as a volunteer for William Saroyan Elementary School in Fresno, CA. I went on to graduate from CSUFresno with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology; Science is my passion and I believe our young students are in dire need of mentors who are dedicated to show them the world. As an Undergraduate, I volunteered as a librarian, and tutor. In 2009, I was employed by Americorps and was required to teach Science, Math, and English to 4th- 6th graders for eight weeks. In early 2010, I decided to further my career goal by pursuing a Master's in Education, for which I will begin my first class session in the summer 0f 2011.
Teaching Style
For me, relating to children is effortless; I am quite apt to quickly gaining their attention as well as their confidence. Sadly, many students face the challenge of losing focus; as a teacher, I hope to be able to instill unwavering motivation and drive into each student, and help shape their characters that is essential in fulfilling a rewarding life as they enter into adulthood. All it takes is an influential mentor who is willing to put in 110 percent long after school hours are over. Educators should not only teach, but also still strive to continue to expand their own knowledge in order to exemplify to our students the importance of opening one's mind and broadening one's perspectives.
