Experience Summary
I have spent the majority of my career working with students who have struggled to maximize their potential either because of their economic/home life situation (SES)or their inability to make meaningful connections with their teachers. I make it a priority to make the content meaningful to the student and relevant to their level of learning. I have worked at the secondary level for the past 11 years and understand the challenges our students today are facing. I am dual certified as a Language Arts and Reading teacher and am able to intertwine the importance of good reading strategies with good writing practices.
Teaching Style
I believe that all children have the potential to learn in whatever capacity they are given as long as a connection has been made with the child. Teachers need to look at each student individually and be able to capitalize on their strengths and weaknesses, rather than mold the student into a one size fits all lesson. All it takes for teachers to see some level of success is for them to be patient with their students and remember that all students learn at their own pace. Teachers entered this profession because they care about children and want to help and it is that basic principle that guarantees a successful student.
