Experience Summary
I have twenty-nine years of experience in teaching middle and high school students. I have taught high school English, Bible, history, and speech/drama; and middle school English, Bible, science, history, speech/drama, and math through Pre-Algebra. During these years I taught multi-ethnic classes, mainly in urban areas. I also have tutored students in all of the above-listed classes plus SAT II Literature. In addition to correcting students' work, I have proofread a large number of papers of friends and have taught ESL to Spanish adults and English to students in China.
Teaching Style
By the time that I have spent a short time with my students, they know that I care for them and want them to be the best that they can be; they know that I expect good work from them and want each to do his or her best. As I learn my students, I realize my need to differentiate my teaching styles to fit my students' specific learning needs and am convinced that each person can learn and can do well if he or she is worked with according to his or her particular learning style. I am patient with my students but work to push them to be their best.
