Experience Summary
I am currently a graduate student in Medical Sciences at Boston University. I have taken many biology and chemistry courses during my studies, and I feel comfortable tutoring: molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, general/organic chemistry, and general biology. In addition, I have also taken the entire lower division math sequence for engineers, so I am able to teach elementary math up through calculus except for geometry. In addition, I am able to teach statistics and elementary physics as well. I have 1 year of experience tutoring high school students in an after school program in Oakland, CA.I have also tutored students from elementary up through the high school level.
Teaching Style
I enjoy seeing the "A ha" moment that students get when a concept becomes clear to them. I am not a big fan of memorization and have encouraged students to not only understand the concepts, but to also link the concepts together into a big picture understanding. Also, I believe that with hard work everyone can achieve their goals and that everyone has their own pace and capacity for learning. The trick is to motivate them into thinking that they could always do more, which they usually can.
