Experience Summary
I am a dual-degree graduate from UW-Oshkosh holding a BA in French and a BS in Secondary Education. During my college career, I took advantage of the opportunity to complete two study abroad sessions. The first in London, England; the second at the University of Caen in Normandy, France. While studying the French language, I have been awarded the Clifford W. & William C. Sanders Memorial Award for exceptional achievement in French in 2007/2008; and I have also earned my DELF B1 certification and recognition from the French government. After holding the position as a certified tutor for the UW-Oshkosh Foreign Language Department; I am currently responsible for three levels of French at a middleschool in the Milwaukee area.
Teaching Style
My pursuit of foreign language acquisition is born out of an enamored love of the French culture. I view speaking the language as an integral key with which one is granted access to the intricacies and the unique aspects of the respective culture. My style of teaching reflects my philosophy that languages are not limited to the pages of a textbook; but rather can be explored via a variety of means such as history, arts, music, culinary styles, and literature. I believe languages are best learned through utilization; therefore, I teach with an emphasis on conversation. I provide a variety of media in order to differentiate the learning in order to appeal to all learning styles.
