Experience Summary
In the nine years of my graduate and undergraduate education, I have been a teacher, tutor and mentor. As an undergraduate, I was the math and science tutor for student athletes; I helped students to successfully complete Algebra I & II, Geometry, Chemistry, Biology and Physics. As a graduate student, I taught in both lecture and one-on-one settings, and was a mentor for 9 students. I have volunteered my time at science camps for middle school and high school students where I developed and led hands-on activities. In recognition of my passion for science and my teaching skills, I have been an invited lecturer in both high school and college courses. Outside of an academic setting, I worked as a private piano teacher for four years.
Teaching Style
Education is invaluable and needs to be made accessible to all students. My goal as a teacher is to create an excellent environment for learning, providing the student an opportunity to excel in his/her studies. My prior teaching experiences have taught me the importance of organization, patience and using varied teaching methods to reach students with different learning strengths. I will provide your child with individual attention, customized session plans, encouragement and positive reinforcement to reach the personalized learning goals that we will set together. My hope is that while learning required material, each student will realize his/her personal abilities, gain confidence and increase his/her appreciation for education.
