Experience Summary
I have earned two bachelor degrees from the University of Wisconsin: a BA in History and a BA in Political Science. I thoroughly enjoy both subjects and continue to deepen my knowledge of both in ongoing private study. In the past I have tutored students in music, mathematics, and English and feel capable of tutoring in any of the social sciences.
Teaching Style
I believe the most important key to teaching is having a passionate teacher. When a student has a teacher who is interested in the subject matter, they cannot help but be interested too. In regards to my favorite subject, history, I believe it is best taught by focusing on the ‘story’ aspect of it. When a student can learn the over-arching narrative and hear the inspiring stories of the men and women who have made history, the dates and details will readily follow. I believe each student learns differently and a teacher needs both patience and adaptability to find the approach that works best in each individual case.
