Experience Summary
My love for children and wanting to make a difference in their lives, led me to get my Masters degree in Early Childhood Education. I believe that learning can make a difference in one's quality of life, and should be a lifelong process. I have 8 years experience either teaching or tutoring elementary aged children in basic reading skills, academic reading, and elementary math, as well as writing basic essays and papers. In fact, parents have asked for me by name, and commented to others on how I have helped their children achieve academic success.
I also, hold a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, have taught art, and love it!
Teaching Style
Young children learn best through things that have meaning to them. For example, I once tutored a child that had difficulty learning his multiplication tables, but was an avid NASCAR fan. I taught him the sums of multiplication problems by using the numbers on the drivers cars. He learned that the sum of 6x4, and 4x6 was equal to Jeff Gordon's number, which was 24. We did that with every car in NASCAR and people were amazed at how quickly he learned his multiplication tables. Multiplication tables became a breeze to him. I have used similar principals teaching phonics, and reading to young children. I also, have a history of being patient and understanding with elementary aged children.
