Experience Summary
I have spent a lifetime educating myself and participating in professional development and then giving back my knowledge and skills to those that may benefit. I have found that I frequently learn as much from those that I teach as they learn from me. My History degree is not only a passion but the research and analytical skills I have learned help me present information in a way that is easy to understand and comprehend. As an Aquatic Education instructor I embraced those that were concerned about our environment and encouraged ideas to resolve issues.
Teaching Style
Regardless of the demographics of the student population in the classroom, I have learned that it is as important to listen as it is to present information. I encourage participation in classromm subjects yet maintain control and functionality of the class so that the lesson is not lost in the discussion. It is rewarding to see the improvment of self esteem and knowledge when people become heard and are understood in a positive environment. The miracle of comprehension is akin to nurturing, encouraging and challenging an individual to blossom and bear fruit that can be enjoyed and savored by many.
