Experience Summary
Tutoring is a profession which I have enjoyed for over nine years, often while teaching in the classroom or online, concurrently. I was able to teach multi-subjects to college students because I excelled in all subjects myself, receiving numerous scholarship awards and honors. I chose after school tutoring as my extra duty assignment while teaching middle school and high school. I enjoy tutoring students because I experience the moment of “Ah ha, now I get it!” with them.
Teaching Style
I am eclectic in my approaches towards teaching, ranging from Montessori and Classroom Without Walls, to Behaviorist and Cognitive approaches. I use what is observable, measurable, and works. I am always prepared to pull a rabbit out of my hat, and I always prepare additional alternative lesson plans in case an approach does not seem doable. I begin tutor sessions with interviews to assess goals. The ultimate goal is always for the tutee to become an independent learner.
