Experience Summary
Education has been a priority for me my whole life. I first began tutoring college students in Math while still in college and have always been willing to teach or train anyone who needed it in my personal life or in a professional capacity. My formal education consists of a BS in Mathematics with a Concentration in Physics and a Certificate in Drafting Technology. My informal education is broad including working "in the real world" in fields such as banking, manufacturing, and administration. I also, for many years, home schooled my own son. I have experience working with people who have learning challenges and I enjoy tutoring math, all sciences, both hard and soft.
Teaching Style
I begin by observing the person. In which areas are they confident and strong? In which areas are they fearful and using avoidance? I then find a bridge from their place of confidence to their place of fear and coax them across until they are happily skipping across. This may take some time, but I believe in quality over quantity when it comes to completed work. I want to leave the person with the ability to complete it well and on their own the next time. Speed can be developed after mastery.
