Experience Summary
As a person dedicated to learning, myself I will soon be pursuing a graduate degree in special education. My goal is to become a special education teacher and beyond that touch the lives of those most in need. Having had experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, I am comfortable with teaching and redirecting behavior. I have an undergraduate degree in behavioral science where I studied sociology, psychology, math, statistics, chemistry and biology. In my studies learning quickly, having excellent writing skills and being able to study and understand material given to you was essential to my success at the undergraduate level.
Teaching Style
I am a patient and detail-oriented. My teaching style is to go over the material at hand and break it down to a point where the student gets a full understanding of the lesson being taught. I sometimes use stories, props, or simply breaking down the problem so that it is easier to comprehend. It is important to me that the person I am teaching fully understands the lesson, because in a classroom setting one lesson builds upon another and that string of lessons leads to testing. Before a test is failed, giving the student a fair chance to have direct one-on-one assistance and feedback is essential for them mastering their lesson and getting an A on exam, test or assignment.
