Experience Summary
While attending the University of Notre Dame, I was recommended by a professor to tutor student athletes. I did so for 2 years while there in the subject of accountancy. I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame (with degrees in accountancy and psychology). I also taught 5th grade religious education for 5 years and have recently begun tutoring college students again in the subject of accountancy (including an MBA student). I understand accountancy and believe it is a subject that students unnecessarily fall behind in, despite its importance in a business degree.
Teaching Style
Usually when a student requests a tutor, he/she is already behind in the coursework. My goal is to assess the situation; attack the most-pressing work that is due; and then go back to the previous information. As a tutor, it is my job to see that a student understands the course material, and it is quite beneficial to do this on a one-on-one level. Time-permitting, I like to go back chapter-by-chapter and help the student understand ALL of the material, since one never really knows what my appear on an exam or quiz. Mostly, my goal is to believe that this student truly understands the material ... no matter the past performance.
