Experience Summary
I am an experienced teacher with over 15 years of teaching experience. In addition, and just as important, I am the mother of 4 sons with ADD, and have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Guidance Counseling. Leaving RI, I am now living in Memphis and am looking to find students to tutor in this area. In RI, I have been substituting in all grades, even high school. My experience includes teaching in grades K, 1,2,3,4,6-8. Also, I have worked for the Sylvan School in Newport, RI which is a school for tutoring students who need some extra help with their academics. With a rich background and years of experience, I believe that I can help children reach for success in their academic progress.
Teaching Style
Having many years of experience in teaching, and years of experience working as a substitute teacher, I have incorporated different methods of teaching. I believe in a strong base for learning, Basic skills are important before reaching for the next level of learning. Study Skills are valuable as well and are important in all levels of learning, I will spend time with these skills before attempting new levels of learning. Spending time finding out the student's level of learning will ultimately help the student find welcomed achievement. My goal is to help students enjoy learning by experiencing success. I love teaching and I hope that students will love to learn.
