Experience Summary
I am a motivated, creative teacher with seven years experience in multi-age education and one year as a reading tutor for a first grade student. I hold a current Maine certificate in elementary education and have extensive training in remedial reading instruction. I am skilled in integration of special needs education with regular classroom instruction, as well as communication and collaboration with parents, teachers and administrators.
Teaching Style
I have experience as a Reading Recovery Teacher, a K-4 Title I Teacher, and as a classroom teacher of a K-2 multi-grade classroom. In each of these positions, I have had the opportunity to highlight the individual strengths of learners, and to focus on their specific needs. In reading instruction, my personal teaching style is to mesh phonetics, whole language instruction, and the integration of reading and writing as techniques to address individual needs. I believe in the ability of every child to be a successful reader and writer through focused, individualized education
