Experience Summary
My first teaching experience was in a private school for children with learning disabilities. After gaining that experience for several years, I was then employed in the public elementary school. While raising my family I spent 20 plus years homeschooling my own five children from K-12th grade. As my children grew up I developed a private tutoring service working with children of all ages on a wide range of skills from learning to read to Algebra I. I am also employed as a clinician with a private company that remediates and retrains the brain with special programs for people with specific learning disabilities.
Teaching Style
Having many years of teaching and parenting experience I am comfortable with all ages and all personalities. I am a warm, soft-spoken person who is able to make children feel relaxed and comfortable, yet I maintain authority and stucture to challenge and motivate. I am liberal with praise for effort and improvement. One of my greatest strengths is that I have an innate understanding of how to break down concepts into small understandable parts that can be easily grasped, and to communicate the skills and information through multiple methods and sensory experiences.
