Experience Summary
I currently have my California substitute teaching credential. I have worked previously for Placed County Office of Education and Yuba County Office of Education, substitute teaching. I currently work for Paradise Oaks Youth Services as a residential counselor, specifically on the 7 to 3 shift, tutoring the kids to help them complete their individual school program. At Paradise Oaks Youth services I work with emotionally disturbed teenage boys, but as a substitute teacher, I worked K12 and special education.
My bachelors degree is in Applied Computer Graphics, and my Masters is in Forensic Psychology (to be completed February 2011). I plan on continuing my education to the doctoral level.
Teaching Style
My main goal working with children is to give them the help and support they need to achieve their own goals. Education is of paramount importance for a child's future, in order to not only establish financial security, but so that they may find a path in life.
I know that in order for a child to find success, they need an adult who can listen, be patient, and understand each child's personal needs. Every child has a different background, temperament, and personallity that is continuously molded by the adults and peers in their life. As a tutor I know it is my responsibility to provide each child encouragement while doing the best possible to clearly and easily explain and teach.
