Experience Summary
I've taught Aesthetics, Critical Theory, Painting and Drawing at various schools on the East Coast. These include New York University, Penn State University, Maine College of Art and The University of Southern Maine. I currently teach at The University of Maine at Farmington.
I'm also a grant writer, specializing in academic grants in the Arts and Humanities. This has made me quite proficient in writing clear, concise and readily accessible prose on a multitude of topics.
Teaching Style
I believe I'm quite a good teacher because I'm firmly committed to excellence in academic work, but I don't believe in being pedantic or dreary about it. My own interests are quite broad, and I think I'm quite good at finding ways to make academic subjects relevant and appealing to each student's particular experience and worldview.
I'm proud to say that I always receive very positive student evaluations at the end of each semester. Students say that they find me knowledgeable, approachable and open to new ideas, and I try very hard to bring this attitude to every student that I teach.
