Experience Summary
All of my work experience and higher education has been based around my passion for education. My educational successes showcase an MS in Adult and Technical Education: Teaching English as a Foreign Language and a BA in Elementary Education:K-6. My early work in day cares led me to pursue my BA and has allowed me the opportunity to work with students with every learning level and style. My time as a student-athlete tutor at the college level gave me extensive experience in private, one on one, and small group tutoring. During that time, I worked predominantly in English, including Speech/Communications, Composition, essay writing, grammar, essay, paragraph, and sentence structure, research, study skills, and organization.
Teaching Style
I truly enjoy working with all ages of students. I feel that one of the best ways to learn is to teach. Most of my lessons are built around the central idea of conversation and questioning. I find it very effective to lead the student to their answer through asking questions and making them teach the information to me. I am there as support for their discovery. I also use a lot of active learning. For younger students, I do my best to keep them engaged by movement, music, and using their hands. When students are actively involved, they not only increase their understanding, but also gain the chance of remembering the lesson and information. I strive to make learning fun and active for all ages.
