Experience Summary
I hold a Bachelors degree from Eastern Oregon University with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in English Discourse. I have been employed by the Redmond School District at the elementary level for the past 3 years as a reading instructor. I work with small groups, Kindergarten through third grade to help each student improve in all areas of reading. I asses each students progress before moving onto the next concept. I have also worked at Sylvan Learning Center as a tutor and tutored students in all areas needed. I mainly worked with the younger kids, no older than 8th grade. I worked with these students in any area they needed assistance in, reading, writing, math, science, etc.
Teaching Style
I am truly passionate about working with children and helping them learn. I am patient with each child I work with. I hold them accountable for their own learning and success. I am not looking for them to always get the answer right, but rather to think and try 100% of the time. Sometimes we just don’t know the answer and that is ok. I believe in having fun with my students and allowing them to have fun while we work. Having fun while they work will likely lead to them being willing to work hard and learn new skills. I also believe in celebrating each new success, no matter how big or small that success may be.
