Experience Summary
As a graduate of Humboldt State University with a BA and a 2 year post-graduate certificate to teach, I have been led through an array of opportunities over 28 years. I have dealt with special needs children, teens, preschoolers, elementary children and taught any subject placed in front of me. In addition, I taught Drama, Speech, Creative Writing, Script Writing and Math at local Cooperative Groups in the state of Florida. The growth that each student achieves is my best reward. I love learning and love to pass that on. In tutoring, I first work at instilling confidence and apply small victories to achieve that goal. I find the learning style of the student and modify the information in ways that can make them more successful.
Teaching Style
I look at each student as an individual with specific learning styles that they respond best to. My goal is to identify the learning style or styles of your student and then apply my creative mind to finding ways to present information. Positive reinforcement has given me the best success with students through the years. I believe there are no stupid questions and assess continually until I know that a concept has been grasped. Celebrations of milestones and victories are a large part of what I do as I believe self-esteem and failure can be the biggest obstacle a student must overcome.
