Experience Summary
I am a recent graduate from Metropolitan State College of Denver with a B.S. in biology and a minor in environmental sciences. This degree has given me a vast knowledge of many different scientific fields. Currently I am seeking my teaching certificate in secondary education. I am gaining experience for my certificate by working in a seventh grade biology classroom and volunteering my time to tutor at the same school. I am also a member of the Center for Urban Education, this places me in high needs schools that have very diverse populations of students. This has given me great experience to be able to work with children that are so diverse in their backgrounds and their learning styles and abilities.
Teaching Style
I really enjoy being an educator. I love to work with students in a classroom environment and one-on-one in tutoring environments. I take a progressive approach when I teach, I believe that experiences and discovering are necessary for learning. To do this I try and bring in real world experiences when I can to help students have a better understanding of subjects. I believe that all children have the ability to learn anything, especially when they receive the proper help. I feel so rewarded when I help students realize their potential and to help them succeed in their education.
