Experience Summary
I am currently the program counselor for a Federal Grant through the Department of Education. My role as counselor is centered on individuals with various skills and abilities who are working to gain basic community and employment related skills. My educational background consists of an Associates of Art degree in Social Work and a Bachelor of Science degree in Child, Adult, and Family Services. It is the combination of my education, work experience, and patient/empathetic personality that allows me to create a comfortable, fun, and goal focused learning environment. I have been able to teach individuals through a combination of verbal, visual, and hands-on learning.
Teaching Style
I have discovered that every individual no matter what age has the ability to learn and adapt. It is how the learning occurs and in what way the individual finds success that is the focus of my teaching styles. My personal style of educating is focused around a person centered philosophy and the knowledge that every individual has different ways of learning. I have utilized the following methods in my previous teaching and training experiences; basic paper materials, models, photo book, modeling, hand-over-hand, graphs, charts, and a mix of visual and auditory reading materials. I am excited to continue gaining knowledge through the learning of other individuals.
