Experience Summary
I graduated in 2009 with my BA in English and am currently pursuing my masters in writing. While at the undergraduate level I learned about all manner of skill in writing from research papers to poetry. I am currently finishing up a Teaching Writing course at the graduate level at the University of New Hampshire. Taking this course has certainly broadened my understanding of writing and more importantly how to teach it. For the spring semester I am continuing on with a Teaching Secondary English course, also at the graduate level. I have certainly helped guide many of my peers and friends with countless papers which along with my own experience has provided me with an expansive knowledge of how to write and how to teach writing.
Teaching Style
I love being able to help a student or peer develop and implement new knowledge. I like to take the approach of teaching skill not just content. I am patient and easy going and will try my hardest to ensure that each individual student be treated as such. I thrive in the one on one teaching style and I hope to help each student reach his or her top potential. I would love to help other young writers find their way through the endless maze of grammar, spelling, and help them generate intriguing writing, not just correct writing. I like to think of grammar and spelling as certain tools to use and teach but I like to help a student get to a point where they can be proud and confident in their writing.
