Experience Summary
As an undergraduate I studied computer engineering with a minor in math. After earning my B.S. I wanted to continue studies and push my career more towards math and physics so I earned an M.S. in electrical engineering. As a graduate student I had a revelation that caused me to reexamine math and engineering concepts, which led to a deeper understanding of them. I am now pursuing a PhD in electrical engineering.
My teaching experienced has been unfortunately limited to tutoring family and friends in their college math courses over the past few years. However, those experiences have provided great insight into how to effectively teach a subject, and I am ready to use this experience to benefit a wider audience.
Teaching Style
I have over time developed a strong desire to teach and to ignite in others the same passion for learning that my teachers ignited in me. I believe that everyone has the ability to understand mathematics regardless of age and that the right teacher can not only facilitate deep understanding but can foster an enthusiasm for the subject that will naturally follow from such understanding.
My teaching style is laid-back but focused, and the most important thing to me is to be patient with the student and to provide a firm foundation by ensuring that each troublesome concept is well understood. I find that, with math, looking at a concept from a different angle or providing an intuitive physical example is a boon.
