Experience Summary
My teaching experience has all been in volunteer roles. I taught Sunday School class and Youth Group at New Hope Church in Bend for grades 5 through 12. I have recently applied for and been accepted as a mentor in the Deschutes County COPY (Central Oregon Partnership for Youth) program, and have gone through a 6-hour mentorship training program as a requirement of the program, in addition to fingerprinting and a criminal background check. My Bachelor of Science degree gave me a strong math background, and I have significant experience in writing technical documents, and proofreading reports.
Teaching Style
Learning is like a puzzle or a code, and I enjoy the reaction of students when they finally solve the puzzle, or decipher the code. I try to show the student the practical application of the subject, and then make them enjoy their time learning. I love seeing the joy of the "Aha!" moment. I hope to establish enough of a relationship with my students to be able to identify what methods will work best. I helped my three children with their homework, and learned the benefit of using a style most suitable to their individual personalities.
