Experience Summary
I came to education from a non-traditional approach. I earned a BA in social studies and a Master's degree in education later in my professional career. As a result, I was keenly focused upon the process of learning. I excelled in my studies and came to be regarded as one other students could turn to for assistance. During my teaching career, I conducted classes in history, language arts, general math, general science, and economics. Additionally, I created and implemented after school programs focused upon credit recovery. Currently, I hold a Colorado secondary teaching certificate in social studies.
Teaching Style
I am a student centered educator. Students come into every situation with their own set of experiences. I also am aware that each individual has a preferred way to learn. I like to identify these experiences and preferences as a way to gain insight and thus provide an individual learning approach. In addition to a whole student approach, I value humor and simplicity. Complicated strategies and techniques are no fun. I strive to make the process fun and in doing so learning becomes a natural activity.
