Experience Summary
I have always been very fond of learning; I received a BS from California State University Monterey Bay and a MA from Monterey Institute of International Studies. Both degrees focused on environmental policy and Spanish. I tutored writing with an emphasis on science and policy for 2 years with the CSUMB peer tutoring program and volunteered with Monterey County Reads as a reading assistant for children K-3 during my undergrad and graduate education. I volunteered abroad as an English teacher in rural Ecuador in the summer of 2009, graduated from MIIS in 2010, and moved back to Ecuador to teach English. I have tutored English reading, writing, and ESL for 3 years, but I also have a strong background in the sciences and Spanish language.
Teaching Style
As a tutor I feel it is my job to provide students with the extra help they need in reaching their educational outside of the classroom. I have always been very passionate for nurturing the needs of individuals of all ages: elementary and middle school students, high schools students, college students, and working professionals. I love seeing individuals grow threw the learning process, and am always amazed at how much I learn, as the tutor, from the students, as well. I fully understand that the needs of each student vary, as do the different ways in which each student learns. I enjoy using both out of the box and traditional methods of tutoring to make the learning process both fun and educational.
