Experience Summary
Prior to earning my degree in education, I was a sign language interpreter for the Deaf. I noticed that Deaf students were not getting an adequate education so I decided to finish my degree so that I would have the ability to have more influence with my student's ability to be successful regardless of their disability. I earned my BA in education with an endorsement in English. I have also had additional education in the area of Diversity and experience in working with special needs students. I have had the opportunity to tutor adults and children in sign language, English, Social Studies and math. My strong suit is being able to assist a student in finding a way for them to find understanding in their studies.
Teaching Style
I believe that students learn in a variety of ways and demonstrate their understand in many ways as well. Therefore, I strive to help students learn what type of learner they are by identifying their strengths and weaknesses and utilizing those in teaching. I also use Bloom's Taxonomy to take learners from learning knowledge to critical thinking. My strength in teaching is my ability to make a connection of the student and being approachable. This had allowed me to be an exciting part of a child's education and ultimately their future as an adult and contributor to society.
