Experience Summary
I have been a high school English teacher for over 20 years, teaching all levels from ninth grade through AP English. During this time, in addition to teaching all course content, I have helped hundreds of students write college essays, prep for AP exams, and practice for the SAT. I have extensive experience working with English Language Learners and am very comfortable working with students from a wide variety of ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.
Teaching Style
I have worked in a variety of classroom settings, from a traditional 30-student class, to small groups, to one on one instruction. I enjoy working with teens to encourage them to tackle challenging subjects with confidence and enthusiasm. I am friendly, open minded and patient, but I am also firm and set clear expectations for performance and learning. Every student has different needs and learning styles, and I enjoy the challenge of finding the right approach for each one.
