Experience Summary
I have many years of elementary reading tutoring experience. This started at a young age, as my mother was an elementary public school remedial reading teacher. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend a private school, which left me with certain vacation times differing. Rather than getting a sitter and have me stay home my mother took me to her school with her to have me assist and help out with the students and their reading difficulties. This in turn at a young age made me enjoy helping others to learn. I see daily how important it is that they grasp these concepts of reading and comprehension as soon as possible because if not it can interfere with every other aspect of their education as well as their self esteem.
Teaching Style
My teaching style involves patience and finding out what exactly the student is not grasping, and figuring out how each individual learns. Each person responds to different styles of teaching and learning, and finding the correct form for the student is crucial to the success of the student. It is so satisfying seeing a child’s confidence rise when they realize they have grasped a concept that they have struggled with for so long.
