Experience Summary
In approaching the learning environment as a College Graduate with my MA in Criminology and Statistics, I seek to do for my students what numerous professors did for me when I was an undergraduate: Instill a passion for sociology, criminology, and statistics along with a desire to master these disciplines so as to best share it with others. Further, I offer not only academic knowledge, but experience in teaching many disciplines, such as sociology, criminology, statistics, writing, and analytical research methods.
Teaching Style
To reach the students and motivate them to learn takes enthusiasm both for sociology and for teaching. When students see that I am passionate about the discipline and energetic and excited about teaching, this rubs off on them and is conducive to their learning. I am an active and thorough lecturer, but at the same time I seek to involve the students as much as possible so as to make their learning experience one which they help to construct. I have found that I retain more knowledge through the articulation of ideas akin to teaching, and believe that when students are open and encouraged to express themselves they will have similar experience learning.
