Experience Summary
I taught Mathematics and Operations Research at the Naval Academy form 1997-2000 and from 2003-2010. Courses taught include Calculus I and II, Probability and Statistics, Optimization and Game Theory. Additionally I served as the course coordinator for several courses and mentored several Honor Students. I have also tutored high school and college students in pre-calculus, probability and AP Calculus the last 6 years.
Teaching Style
I enjoy the interaction with students. Finding the key to motivate each one, while challenging, is rewarding. Striving to learn what the students enjoy and determine how they can become active in the learning process. I am a patient individual, prompting students to think for themselves. I feel students that struggle sometimes is due to negative re-enforcement from adults and society, so working on helping the student develop strong self-confidence is a goal I work toward.
