Experience Summary
I have earned a BS in Computer Science/Mathematics Teaching and an MAT in Mathematics Education. I have taught at the high school level for 5 years, classes from Algebra I all the way to AP Calculus, along with Computer Application classes and computer repair. I have also taught at a career college for 3 years in College Mathematics, Business Mathematics, and Computer Application classes. Also, I tutored while in college and have tutored students every year that I have taught.
Teaching Style
My main belief when it comes to teaching is that all students can learn. As an educator, it is my responsibility to make my students successful. I feel that it is my responsibility to teach to all learning styles to give the students the best chance at success. I believe that all of the students are capable of doing what I ask of them, some may have to work a little harder than others.
I believe that the only way to really learn mathematics is to do mathematics. This is achieved mostly through assignments, but also through discussions and exercises. I view my role as a facilitator for this process. I want to have my sessions be a place where students can learn, appreciate, and not be afraid to ask questions.
