Experience Summary
I have 25 years of education experience, having taught students in special education and Title I classrooms. I have also served at the district level in public education and served on the Board of a private school. I am currently an education consultant, providing workshops for educators and parents. In addition, I have published articles and books on a variety of education topics. My passion lies in teaching at-risk students, because I know that given the right opportunities all children can learn and make progress toward high academic and behavioral expectations. Degree: BA in Elementary Education; Certification: Learning Disabilities; Associate, Center for Teacher Effectiveness
Teaching Style
When working with youth and adult learners, I use an authoritative style of teaching. This means that I set clear expectations and explain the reasons behind the rules and procedures used during instruction. As an authoritative teacher, I encourage my students to be independent, to make informed choices and to apply what they have learned in relevant ways that create meaning. I look forward to the opportunity to help your child achieve academic success.
