Experience Summary
I graduated from Hope College in three years with a BS in Biology, a BA in Chemistry, and a minor in Classical Studies. I tutored throughout high school and college. I have tutored Latin (both into and upper level courses), Math (high school), history (high school,) Mythology (college), Biology (both intro and upper level courses), and Chemistry (both intro and upper level courses). In college, I was also a TA for Organic Chemistry discussion workshops, as well as biochemistry and organic chemistry labs. Also in college, I worked with science camps, grades 1-5. I have also worked at a summer camp, working with kids ages 8-20. I also have experience teaching Sunday school ages 4-12.
Teaching Style
I have a variety of experience. Most of my tutoring experience is with older students, aged 15 or older. However, I feel that I could work with younger kids as well. I love learning, and I get excited when a student fully grasps the material. I try and reinforce a teachers method of teaching. However, if repetition is not the issue, than I try and explain topics in different ways with lots of examples.I believe a tutor can really be a great supplement to the classroom teacher.
