Experience Summary
I am a detail oriented professional driven by a strong work ethic and a process and results oriented philosophy. Using critical thinking and problem solving skills I analyze and evaluate student needs and concerns, set goals, and work collaboratively to attain student success. I have earned a BA in Biology and Basic Science and a MS Ed in Science Education and have used those degrees to teach successfully physical science, chemistry, and physics in high schools and biology (both majors and non-majors), physics (both calculus- and algebra-based),and chemistry for health sciences in community colleges. I have also taught on-line courses in introductory college biology and physical science.
Teaching Style
I believe all learners can be successful in their learning when presented with learning opportunities within their primary learning styles. I am patient and able to present information by creatively using visual, auditory, and participatory modes of learning. Differentiated instruction allows me to provide students with learning opportunities to meet their specific learning styles. When tutoring students I use questioning to determine student understanding and to allow students to discover what they already know. This method gives students confidence and an "I can" mentality.
