Experience Summary
I've always been passionate about teaching, and I love to work with children and youth. I have a wide range of teaching experience. I am educated as a high school teacher at the University of Oslo in Norway, where I come from. In Norway, I have been a piano teacher and worked as a substitute teacher in several elementary, middle and high schools. There I've taught subjects like French, ESOL, Math and more. I've also worked for Berlitz as a Norwegian teacher for adult immigrants.
Here in Daytona Beach, I volunteer as a tutor for the Volusia Literacy Council.
Right now I'm taking a Master's Degree, and working part time as a tutor would be ideal for me, as I really miss teaching!
Teaching Style
I am a very patient person, that’s probably my best feature as a teacher. I don’t give up on anyone, no matter how long it takes to reach their goal. I strongly believe that all students can and will succeed, given the right attention, motivation and help.
Also, I believe that teaching should be fun! I always try to be creative when I plan a lesson, and I try making the material feel relevant to my students. It should never feel like what they’re learning is useless.
I do my best to make the most of each lesson, to encourage my students and help them reach their full potential.
