Experience Summary
I earned my M.A. in Educational / Developmental Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University and am currently teaching education and psychology courses at The Community College of Allegheny County. I have also taught social studies in NYC at the high school level and have been recognized as an award winning teacher. I was recently selected (1 of 24 US teachers) to attend a study tour in South Africa on education reform. Other examples that I have experience in teaching are GED for returning adults, designing an after-school chess program for middle school students in Harlem, along with mentoring and serving as a cooperating teacher for pre-service / early educators.
Teaching Style
As an educator, I specialize in student motivation and project based learning through connecting content with real world applications. Having taught in a variety of school settings (including urban) and grade levels, I understand how to break information down to support students at their level. In addition to connecting with local schools as an instructor (via supervising early pre-service teachers through field experience and observations) I also have significant experience fostering and collaborating with a large variety of community partners (business leaders, media organizations, politicians).
