Experience Summary
I am currently an intervention specialist for students in grades 5-8, specializing in reading content and reading strategies. Last year, I taught students in the fifth grade, focusing in the scholastic areas of mathematics, reading, language arts, science and social studies.I was assisting students in an inclusion setting with some pull out resource room interventions. This past summer, I was excited about the opportunity I have been given to expand my teaching experiences through working with students with learning, behavioral, and emotional disorders. I am currently highly qualified for grades K-12 in all academic subject areas; reading/language arts, math, science, and social studies.
Teaching Style
Through my teaching experiences, I have found the method of facilitating rather than dictating, to be a highly beneficial style of teaching. My teaching experiences have taught me that if students construct their own learning experiences, they will not only retain the information longer but they will also become more confident in their abilities. In special education I also realize how important it is for a teacher to adapt their teaching to the learning styles in the environment that they are placed.
I have come to realize how vital education is in the preparation for young individuals to achieve success in all endeavors set before them. I also hope to instill a desire to learn within each student
