Experience Summary
I have been teaching, volunteering and tutoring for 25 years. I owned an in home child care and wrote all the curriculum for 10 years. I have taught "Train the Trainer" classes for teachers in preschool and elementary school. I have worked for over a year with SES programs tutoring at schools, in homes, in the evenings and weekends. I've enjoyed working with kids who teach me as much as I teach them. I believe it takes a special talent and caring to teach kids when their home environment doesn't support learning. It also takes a special talent to deal with dire home conditions. I believe strongly in being nonjudgmental, respectful and supportive of the home culture.
Teaching Style
I work hard to discover each child's individual learning style and to write learning plans around not only their educational needs but their emotional and physical needs as well as their areas of interest. I try to provide hands on interactive lessons and role model that learning is FUN! I am flexible, sincere, and supportive. I can win the interest of preschoolers and teens alike.
