Experience Summary
My experience comes from the real world. I am bilingual and I have over 12 years experience as an academic advisor at NYU and Columbia University. I also bring 10 years of corporate business experience. In this time I have tutored countless students and co-workers from all walks of life in Spanish, English as a second language, literature, reading, research, writing papers, proofreading, editing, grammar, basic math and study skills. I have helped them deal with fears, doubts, personal issues and stressors in order to achieve their goals. I have offered guidance in determining their academic path in harmony with their passion.
Teaching Style
The fears, doubts and anxieties that all students must deal with on an ongoing basis is something I am very familiar with both from a student standpoint as well as an academic advisor. To guide and to inspire the student to become an active, self-monitoring and independent learner is only half the battle, yet it is one of my skills. Without the ability to communicate genuine love and concern teaching becomes obsolete.
