Experience Summary
Spanish is my native language. I taught Spanish during the 2006-07 school year at Cimarron Montessori School while also serving as a teacher’s assistant at Monroe Elementary School. The following school year (2007-08) I moved to Bangor, Maine where I worked as a substitute Spanish teacher and substitute Educational Technician at Bangor High School and William Cohen Middle School. I received the highest ratings from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, and plan to pursue certification as a Spanish teacher this year.
Teaching Style
Just as language is a component of culture, I like to use culture to help my students learn Spanish. In addition to the typical study of vocabulary and grammar, I like to keep my students interested and motivated through exposure to various elements of Hispanic culture including music, film, food, history, and geography. I like to keep my material practical and conversational yet focused enough to meet the needs of my students.
